Assurance of Salvation

God Always Stays True

Psalm 37:28 CSB
For the LORD loves justice and will not abandon his faithful ones. They are kept safe forever, but the children of the wicked will be destroyed.

God's Strong Love for Us

Romans 8:31-39 CSB
What, then, are we to say about these things? If God is for us, who is against us? [32] He did not even spare his own Son but gave him up for us all. How will he not also with him grant us everything? [33] Who can bring an accusation against God’s elect? God is the one who justifies. [34] Who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is the one who died, but even more, has been raised; he also is at the right hand of God and intercedes for us. [35] Who can separate us from the love of Christ? Can affliction or distress or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? [36] As it is written: Because of you we are being put to death all day long; we are counted as sheep to be slaughtered. [37] No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. [38] For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, [39] nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

John 10:27-29 CSB
My sheep hear my voice, I know them, and they follow me. [28] I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one will snatch them out of my hand. [29] My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all. No one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.

How We Know We're Saved

Ephesians 1:13-14 CSB
In him you also were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and when you believed. [14] The Holy Spirit is the down payment of our inheritance, until the redemption of the possession, to the praise of his glory.

Philippians 1:6 CSB
I am sure of this, that he who started a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

Hebrews 7:25-28 CSB
Therefore, he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, since he always lives to intercede for them. [26] For this is the kind of high priest we need: holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners, and exalted above the heavens. [27] He doesn’t need to offer sacrifices every day, as high priests do—first for their own sins, then for those of the people. He did this once for all time when he offered himself. [28] For the law appoints as high priests men who are weak, but the promise of the oath, which came after the law, appoints a Son, who has been perfected forever.

Promises of Eternal Life with God

1 Peter 1:3-5 CSB
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead [4] and into an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you. [5] You are being guarded by God’s power through faith for a salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.

John 6:28-29,37-40 CSB
“What can we do to perform the works of God?” they asked. [29] Jesus replied, “This is the work of God—that you believe in the one he has sent.” [37] Everyone the Father gives me will come to me, and the one who comes to me I will never cast out. [38] For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him who sent me. [39] This is the will of him who sent me: that I should lose none of those he has given me but should raise them up on the last day. [40] For this is the will of my Father: that everyone who sees the Son and believes in him will have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.”

Believers Share Their Trust in God

2 Timothy 1:12 CSB
and that is why I suffer these things. But I am not ashamed, because I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that he is able to guard what has been entrusted to me until that day.

1 John 5:11-13 CSB
And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. [12] The one who has the Son has life. The one who does not have the Son of God does not have life. [13] I have written these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.

1 John 4:15-18 CSB
Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God-God remains in him and he in God. [16] And we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and the one who remains in love remains in God, and God remains in him. [17] In this, love is made complete with us so that we may have confidence in the day of judgment, because as he is, so also are we in this world. [18] There is no fear in love; instead, perfect love drives out fear, because fear involves punishment. So the one who fears is not complete in love.

God's Promise Never Changes

Isaiah 54:10 CSB
Though the mountains move and the hills shake, my love will not be removed from you and my covenant of peace will not be shaken," says your compassionate LORD.

Thanking God Our Savior

Jude 1:24-25 CSB
Now to him who is able to protect you from stumbling and to make you stand in the presence of his glory, without blemish and with great joy, [25] to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, power, and authority before all time, now and forever. Amen.

Questions that Challenge Your Current Understanding

  1. Considering John 10:27-29, what assurances do we have that our salvation is secure in Christ, and how does this align with the mission to highlight faith in Jesus as the sole path to salvation?

  2. Jude 1:24-25 emphasizes God's ability to protect us from stumbling. How does this assure believers about their salvation journey and the transformative power of the Gospel?
